Lasik
LASIK (Laser in-situ keratomileusis) has been performed since 1991. Lasik is a laser procedure that alters the shape of the cornea, allowing light to more accurately focus on the retina. In LASIK, a thin flap is created on the outer layer of the cornea. This flap is folded back. The excimer laser reshapes the cornea in a precise pattern to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The flap is repositioned and seals within minutes.
The benefits of LASIK laser eye surgery treatment include a pain free recovery, with quick restoration of eyesight. The inner eye is not pierced during the procedure and stitches are not required.
LASIK surgery is a suitable treatment for people who wants to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contacts, are at least 21 years of age, have had a stable eye prescription for at least one year and have no signs of glaucoma or cataracts.
We also perform Custom LASIK surgery that provides additional levels of precision in the measurement of your prescription. A device called a wavefront analyzer measures the way light travels through your eye and compares it to the way light travels through an eye with perfect vision. Then the device creates a 3-D wavefront map that is unique to you. Your wavefront map provides a detailed diagram of your vision that allows your doctor to provide you with truly personalized vision correction. This customized procedure results in patients seeing clearer and sharper then other laser procedures.
