In the Crystalens procedure, the natural lens is removed from the eye and replaced with a special implant. The end result is excellent distant, intermediate and near vision.

This implant has the ability to move in the eye just like the natural crystalline lens when in younger age. Our natural lens hardens as we age and consequently the ability to focus up close disappears.

Even if we always had perfect vision, by the age of 40 our natural lens starts loosing flexibility, this causes a condition known as presbyopia, where our eye is unable to focus up close.

As we continue to age the lens begins to discolor and cloud up, a condition known as a cataract.
