Farsighted (Hyperopia)

Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness, is usually inherited. Young
children are often hyperopic. As the child and the eyes grow, the hyperopia typically resolves.

People with hyperopia can see distant objects very well, but have difficulty focusing on objects that are up close.

Farsightedness can cause headaches, eyestrain, fatigue or squinting, when performing up-close activities. If you experience any of these symptoms you may be overdue for a eye exam.

Hyperopia is a refractive error. A refractive error means that the shape of your eye does not bend light correctly, resulting in a blurred image.

Treatment

Hyperopia is commonly treated using corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses or contact lenses. Refractive surgery may be able to correct some forms of hyperopia.

REALLY?

Reading in dim light can cause eye fatigue, but will not hurt your eyes, or cause blindness.
